New Port Richey Police and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that Liisa Myers, 56, was pursued by a deputy headed north on U.S. 19 at Marine parkway. The Deputy, police say, saw her dozing behind the wheel. Myers eventually stopped by a New Port Richey police cruiser involved in the chase, but accelerated after an officer stepped in front of her car to prevent her driving off.
Two Sheriff’s deputy and the New Port Richey police officer followed Myers through New Port Richey until the pursuit ended when she jumped the curb in front of the New Port Richey Police station on Kentucky Avenue. She allegedly then backed up and slammed into a New Port Richey police cruiser.
No injuries were reported. Myers, a resident of the City of New Port Richey, has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assuault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Fleeing and Eluding Police with Disregard for Safety of Persons or Property. Both charges are felonies. Myers has also been chaged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, DUI, and DUI Accident with Property Damage.
Myers is being held in lieu of bail at the Land O’ Lakes Correctional Facility.
