Before we get to Pit Stop 1…

This MAY be too nerdy for some of you.  Back in ancient times, we used a ‘cart’ tape system to play all manner of programming…Music, commercials, promotional spots.  If you saw a cart tape, you would think it was an eight track, they have the same design.

Anyway, for months I’ve been making the show piecemeal:  Recording my voiceover ‘dry’, then building the podcast around it in an editing program.  Sounds very smooth…But is sort of cheating, because it isn’t done LIVE like radio.  Well…Now it is.

You may notice a little variance in audio levels, today…A couple of MINOR timing gaps.  That’s because tonight I rolled out ‘virtual cart’ automation, in a program called “PodProducer”.  It will get sharper over the next few days.  This is the way to go, because it means hours less editing time, every night.

Eventually, we’ll get to a level where we’ll consider making AND airing the podcast live, every morning.

Pit Stop 1!

On October 29th, 26 music acts (and a few more wedged into existing bookings), and about a thousand Parrotheads, Condo Commandos and Coral Reefers will descend on Gill Dawg, in Port Richey, for music, margaritas, many drinks, and (hopefully very little) mayhem.  Pit Stop 1 is part of an annual trek from all over the nation to Key West, for Meeting of the Minds.  That is an gathering of fans of a musical genre called Trop Rock.

Jimmy Buffett, Bertie Higgins (he actually coined the term), Zac Brown…These are examples of Trop Rock…And there are hundreds of musical acts working week in, and week out, to help you get a little bit of that tropical fantasy life.  In fact, the genre even has its very own internet radio station, called Radio A1A, and THEY will be participating in the event, right here in Port Richey.

Kenny and Lisa Burke from What’s Going On Music Promotions join us today to give us the background and details, and talk a little local action.
