This is, by far, the most eclectic style of music we’ve yet covered on the Saturday Music Cast.  We’ve covered a LOT of rock, acoustic, country…Even punk, and loop station madness.  Some swing with Andrew and Gerry Polo…But this is the first time we’ve had community, or tribal drummers in the studio.

I’ve been very anxious for this one, because I am IN LOVE with the feature instrument on today’s show, the Tank Drum.  Tank drums are essentially a cross between a steel drum and a xylophone.  Dino DeBernardinis of Om Tribe makes them from propane tanks.  Essentially, cutting the cylinder,  epoxying the ends together, and shaping the keys on top:

The drums are tuned to a particular key, so there are no wrong notes!  Paint is applied, then magic happens…Tune into the podcast to hear these extraordinary tank drums, along with traditional drums and guitar!
