New Port Richey Rotary Prepares 2015 Veteran’s Day Recognition

New Port Richey, FL  (Oct. 5, 2015) –  The New Port Richey Rotary Club will once again present a Veterans Day recognition program honoring our community’s veterans at the club meeting  scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Spartan  Manor (6121 Massachusetts Ave., 34653) in New Port Richey.
Presenting this program has become an annual experience for the New Port Richey Rotarians, and veterans from WWI to the most recent wars representing the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force.

“We have done this program for several years now and have honored 220 veterans. This year we expect to have more than 130 veterans in attendance,” said Paul Lembo, a long-time member of the club and the former organizer of the event. Taking over for Mr. Lembo this year are club members Amanda Hart and Evie Parks. The lunch is complimentary to all veterans and their guests invited by Rotary club members.

The event includes the American Legion Post # 335 motorcycle honor guard and the Gulf High School NJROTC color guard accompanied by bagpipes. A vocalist will sing patriotic songs and memorabilia from various campaigns will also be on display.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Brian Anderson, a veteran Green Beret and three time bronze star recipient from the Iraq war.  Anderson is President/CEO of the Veterans Alternative, a PTSD therapy support program located in Holiday. The Veterans Alternative was formed for Combat Warriors, by Combat Warriors to provide a safe and familiar environment where our men and women can focus on their post-traumatic growth using resiliency and strength-based program. “Hero” his personal therapy dog will also be a special guest of honor at the luncheon.

All invited veterans are guests of the Rotary club’s members and receive framed recognition certificates provided by Congressman Gus Bilirakis honoring their service to our country. For more information about the Veteran’s Recognition Luncheon, contact Rotarian Evie Parks at evie@nprrotary.com .
