‘Canoe Battleship’ to Set Sail August 1 at Rec Center

New Port Richey, FL – The Recreation and Aquatic Center, in partnership with Gill Dawg will host Canoe Battleship on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 5:30-8:30pm at the Recreation and Aquatic Center located at 6630 Van Buren St., New Port Richey.

Co-ed Canoe Battleship is a new event for the City this year!  Canoes of four players will battle it out in a double elimination tournament format in the Recreation and Aquatic Center lap pool.  Each canoe will be given two buckets, one shield, and one cup to try to maneuver and sink the other canoes while keeping water out of their own.  The last canoe to remain upright will be crowned the winner and will receive a prize package provided by Gill Dawg.

Registration for this event begins on Wednesday, June 10th and will be open until Friday, July 31st at the Recreation and Aquatic Center.  The cost is $20 per team.  Please note that the tournament will begin promptly at 5:30pm.  All participants must be registered, in position, and ready to begin the by 5:00pm.  Spectators are welcome to come and watch the fun as four canoes enter the water but only one leaves!
