New Port Richey, Florida – The City of New Port Richey will be hosting a signing event for the Hacienda Hotel Redevelopment Agreement on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. On February 3rd, the City Council voted unanimously to approve the proposed agreement with Abraham Rosner, President of Hacienda Hotel NPR, Inc. Mr. Rosner plans to restore the Hacienda Hotel, once the playground for silent movie stars such as Gloria Swanson and Thomas Meighan, to its original 1927 look and feel.
In 2013, the City hosted two community-wide cleanup events for the Hacienda Hotel which drew over four hundred volunteers to participate. Recent efforts on behalf of the City by State Senator Wilton Simpson and Representative Amanda Murphy to secure State funding for the restoration efforts have helped this project to move forward where work can finally begin on the hotel. “This is the next step in that process,” said Mario Iezzoni, the City’s Economic Development Director. “The Hacienda is a truly a special property with global appeal that will support our downtown redevelopment efforts.”
The public is invited to don 1920’s era appropriate attire and join the City in celebration of this historic event and enjoy the renaissance of the Downtown area. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
