More Input Sought on Bike Racks: Survey

People Places Studio is seeking additional input on a measure to assist the City of New Port Richey in determining ideal locations for bike racks.

In February, the group asked residents to use an interactive map to add locations. Now, People Places would like you to fill out a Survey Monkey form listing the top locations of importance to you, ranked 1-5. You can vote on Survey Monkey here.

People Place Studio is leading a crowd-sourced initiative to identify the best areas for new bike racks in New Port Richey. We received some great public feedback during the first phase. Using that input, we identified the most popular areas, grouped them together, and highlighted them on the maps below. Please take this quick poll to identify your top five choices. This is the second and final step. Once the survey results are in, we will present all this material to the City of New Port Richey. Thanks again for all your help!

New Port Richey Bike Rack Vote Map

The map contains 18 locations, including many centered around the downtown area, but with some laid out around the City at important destinations.

New Port Richey’s government has long professed and interest in making the City more “walkable” and “bikeable” but still lacks much of the infrastructure required to make that happen. There currently are no bike lanes on any of the City streets, but a new multi-use path has been installed along the river and Northern areas of the City, and a second path has been approved for installation along Marine Parkway. This path will connect the City to Pasco County’s bike path along Massachusetts to the East of town, and a new path being installed along Moog Road (Baillie’s Bluff Road) along the Gulf out toward Eagle Point Park.

The installation of these bike racks will be New Port Richey’s first concrete step toward investing in bicycle riding in New Port Richey.
