NPR Prostitution Sting Nets 19 Arrests of “Johns”

The New Port Richey Police Department conducted a prostitution operation dubbed “Clean Sweep” last Friday on U.S. 19. Police utilized undercover female police officers and made 19 arrests, including a retired Chicago Police Officer, a driver in a Darvy Transport Inc. semi-truck and another in a refrigerated produce box truck. Darvy Transport is a freight company located in Orlando, Florida. One suspect had an outstanding warrant and a suspended license and attempted to elude officers when they attempted to arrest him.

New Port Richey has been in a struggle recently with rampant prostitution in concentrated areas of the City. This is the second sting in two months, with the last operation netting ten arrests. Many residents have been complaining in the last year about rampant prostitution along Bellview and Astor Drive near the U.S. 19 bridge at the border with Port Richey.
