Talk About Town: Refugees Explained – March 18

New Port Richey, Downtown, FL (March 6, 2019) – People Places, LLC has been hosting the Talk About Town to discussion series at the office located at 5742 Main Street in downtown New Port Richey for the past three years. The series was developed to stimulate conversations on topics that affect the nature and nurture of New Port Richey.

When you watch the news or look at social media, you’d think we have a crisis at the border. Or at least if you listened to the White House. Yet it isn’t just the US that has people coming to our borders, and believe it or not most refugees aren’t coming to the US. Christine Mendonça, a New Port Richey native, will be joining us on Monday, March 18 at 6:00 pm to talk about who refugees are, what an asylum seeker is, what’s actually happening with them, and why growing up here inspired her to found her company, Humans on the Move. Humans on the Move is an intermediary that connects those with resources to the challenges facing communities that are responding to forced displacement. She will also share how everyone can play a role here in New Port Richey in welcoming new neighbors.

Talk About Town is a free event, open to the public. Residents in and around the City are invited to participate.

Each group begins at 6:00 PM with a 30 – 45 minute presentation, followed by a Q & A session. Guests are encouraged to bring their questions for each topic and are invited to participate in the discussion.
