Pasco County Charter Proposal Meetings Continue to August 24

The committee has been meeting now since mid-May.  The 15-member board is still interviewing representatives and staff of the county’s government.  At the July 13th meeting were three members of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley.  The previous meeting involved Property Appraiser Mike Wells and Tax Collector Mike Fasano.  It’s been a very interesting process with good questions from the appointed committee members.

The committee chair, Michael Cox, plans to put the question (“charter” or “no charter”) to a vote on August 24, after two additional meetings.  That will determine if the review process will continue beyond the August vote, and the matter will be sent with a recommendation to the BCC for consideration.  The BCC will make the final decision whether to pursue further discussion of a charter government and if the item will go on the November 2016 general election ballot for a vote by the registered citizens of Pasco County.

The next Charter committee meeting is in New Port Richey at the Government Center (Little Road, NPR) on Mon, July 27 at 2:30 p.m.
