New Port Richey to Take Over Plathe Road

New Port Richey approved an interlocal agreement with Pasco County Tuesday night to take ownership and responsibility for Plathe Road. The agreement comes as officials have been pushing for Plathe to be paved west of Rowan Road.

The road provides access to Grey Preserve, a New Port Richey park. Council members have expressed frustration in the past at the condition of the road, which many residents have agreed is terrible. The road is unpaved, often floods, and is plagued with potholes. Officials also say that the intersection of Louisiana and Carob has deteriorated because of traffic, which is also a county maintained road.

The city has also purchased an additional property on the west end of Grey Preserve in order to put a pedestrian access at the southern termination of Congress Street.
