Weekly Weather Report
Cool Weather Last Week Cold Front This Week
Last Week (11/1-11/7): Weather Underground’s forecast was just about right last week. The week opened up with a strong cold front, ushered in with strong winds and an arid air mass. Temperatures moderated and returned to historic norms later in the week. By Friday (11/7), however, colder temperatures had returned, as the first of several predicted fronts passed through the area.
Farmers may have had a challenge with the winds and the arid conditions in the early part of the week. Friendship Farms lost a number of plants. See Garden Overview for more details.
The highest high for last week was 83 and the lowest high was 67. The highest low was 66 and lowest low was 45. Temperatures continue to creep lower, and this is reflected in the lowering lows and highs week to week.
This Week (11/8-11/14): WU and other sources are forecasting several cold fronts this week. Rain is came in ahead of cold front that moved thorough on Saturday. Otherwise, our rain chances are very slim. Look for highs in the low 70s and lows in the 50s throughout the week. Farmers should plan to irrigate Tuesday on.
Looking Ahead: We are now definitely into the dry season, with average rainfall amounting to .06 of an inch per day. Most days will be dry, and humidity will be low.
Average temperatures will continue to drop. By the end of November, historical average highs will be in the mid 70s degrees and lows will be in the upper 50s. These are Florida’s fall temperatures, and they will be good for established cool weather crops. Averages are not good guides, but we are currently running close to historical averages.
