Pasco County Commissioners passed a $0.05 increase in gas taxes in the County last week. The new increase will go into effect on January 1st, 2015. Commisioner Chairman Jack Mariano was the only dissenting vote in a 4-1 decision. Pasco’s fuel taxes are currently at the same rate as Pinellas and Hillsborough and will, in January, be five cents higher.

All funds generated from the new tax are slated toward road development projects. Approximately $8 million, according to County Staff, will be generated by the new tax.
