Abraham “Avi” Rosner, owner of Florida Hotel Inc., has offered $2 million in investment to the City of New Port Richey for the expected contract award for redevelopment of the Hacienda Hotel. He has also specified a date of interest that extends until June 20, 2014.
Mr. Rosner previously purchased and renovated a Days Inn off US Highway 17 in Yulee, Florida. The Yulee hotel was opened in October 2013 under Mr. Rosner’s management. It is now known as “Florida Hotel,” according to its Facebook page. It boasts rates starting at $45 a night and free breakfast. You can view a mix of reviews, both good and bad, on their TripAdvisor page. Two reviewers complained of a lack of running water during their stays, which were in March and April of 2014. Florida Hotel Inc. was incorporated in Florida in 2012, and it’s lone officer is listed as Abraham Rosner, President.
Mr. Rosner is, according to his personal Facebook page, from Israel, and the hotel in Yulee would appear to be his first venture in the U.S. Redevelopment of the Hacienda Hotel in New Port Richey is his next ambition.
Mr. Rosner is also apparently owner of a CPA firm called “God’s Tax Inc.” which has a website with Mr. Rosner’s picture on it. The company was incorporated in Florida in 2011. A Yelp review out of Miami, which is where Mr. Rosner’s address is listed, claims that he practiced as a CPA in Florida with a license from New York. That would be illegal to do unless working under the supervision of a licensed Florida CPA, an offense that can carry a fine and jail time. The website and twitter for God’s Tax Inc. (@GodsTax) claim “The Holy Way to File Your Taxes” and cite Miami, FL as its area of operation.
Mr. Rosner’s father, Yaakov Rosner, flew in from Jerusalem earlier this month to help sell the council on the idea, according to an article from the Times. The Times also reported that Economic Development Director Mario Iezzoni was working on financial documents for both firms interested in the Hacienda. The second firm, Legacy Lodging LLC has missed deadlines for providing financial information according to Mr. Iezzoni.
NewsPortRichey has made a request for those documents. See pictures of rooms at Florida Hotel in Yulee below (click to enlarge).

Hacienda Investor

Yeah, this reminds me of the Dr. Seuess story ‘The Sneeches’ or when the salesman came to Springfield to sell The Simpsons the idea of a monorail. Hope the city doesn’t look for a magic bullet here- I don’t have a good feeling here.
