A property at 6116 Madison Street in New Port Richey was demolished last week under the City’s slum and blight ordinance. The structure had been vacant for a long period, and damage to the interior of the structure was noticed during an inspection of the property.
Under the City’s ordinance, if a structure meets one or more of seven criteria, the structure can be designated as “blight” and ordered demolished. All of the criteria relate directly to the safety and well-being of surrounding structures and residents, and the structural integrity of the buildings. The City currently has a pending list of structures that are to be demolished.
The owner of record is Timothy Hodge, whom lists his address at that property. At the time of print, Mr. Hodge’s listed number had been disconnected.
