Books about Florida!

Some funny, some serious, all about your state.  Florida.  We got songs (Green Grass and High Tides, American Girl, Deep Down in Florida) about us.

We’ve had TV shows (Flipper, Glades, Bloodlines) about us.

There’ve been movies about Florida (Adaptation,  Beneath the 12 Mile Reef, Body Heat).

But the books!  DOZENS of novels…White, Dorsey, Barry, Hiassen…Great stuff.  Some of it forms my very existential understanding of the world.  Things we get to see, and to know, that almost no one else does:  Manatees breathing at sunrise.  Tailing redfish on the flats.  No one else has an Everglades.

It’s a dying, fragile paradise.  It’s almost gone.  So it’s good that people wrote, and write about it.
