WNBA player Skylar Diggins, who has ties to the Holiday area, is presenting a girl’s basketball camp on April 9th, 2016 at the New Port Richey Recreation Center. The camp website says that it will focus on “developing fundamental basketball skills, ball handling, shooting, counter moves, defense, and agility” and that the camp is designed to challenge all levels of competitive basketball.
According to her Wikipedia page, Diggins is originally from South Bend, Indiana, where she played for Washington High School before playing at the college level for Notre Dame. Diggins played in the WNBA 2013-2015 with the Tulsa Shock and had her break-out All-Star year in 2014, ranking second in the WNBA in scoring with 20.1 points per game, 5.0 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game. Diggins won the 2014 WNBA Most Improve Player Award and was named in 2013 to the WNBA’s All-Rookie Team.

The camp is accepting 60 girls ages 7-18. The camp is on Saturday, April 9th from 10 AM to 2 PM. The registration cost is $150 and includes a camp T-shirt, headband, and a drawstring bag.
