High Speed Chase Ends in Ditch on Rowan Road

One suspect tonight thought fleeing New Port Richey Police Officers was a good idea. He ended up in a ditch off Rowan Road for his troubles.

A red Camaro, driven by a male suspect, sped north on Grand Boulevard at Marine Parkway Thursday night and led police on a high speed chase through a populated residential area.

New Port Richey Police say that the driver was 19 year old Gary Nichols of Port Richey. This is not Nichols’ first encounter with police, even in the last 30 days. According to court records, Nichols was arrested on November 20th for felony aggravated fleeing and eluding with injury or property damage. Court records also showed numerous possession charges and for leaving the scene of an accident. Nichols also has charges stemming from an October 2014 arrest for similar charges, including fleeing and eluding police. This will be Mr. Nichols’ third charge for fleeing and eluding. Nichols was also arrested after a foot chase in February 2014 by New Port Richey Police.
