For more context:

Our podcast today is a kind of culmination of our medical marijuana story…Although I will be airing interviews with other activists, patients and providers as they come to me.  Today’s guest is a prominent attorney who is a driving force in medical and recreational cannabis fights in Florida.  He recently won a landmark decision in Florida, using a medical necessity defense.  Essentially, the argument is this:  If no other medication works, and cannabis does, it must be allowed by the state.  It’s the first time such a defense has ever been successful in Florida, and a sign that Florida is moving, slowly but inevitably, toward legalized medical cannabis, and probably recreational legalization for adults, as well.

You can read about that decision here:

Also important, today:
You are invited to attend a public work-session for the Business Bayou Association (BBA) and Port Richey City Council Members.

This work session has been scheduled at the request of County Commissioner Jack Mariano to facilitate a discussion on changes proposed in the Waterfront Overlay District (WOD) by the Business Bayou Association to encourage investment in the Miller’s Bayou Area in collaboration with City Council in the best interests of the citizens.

It’s an opportunity for folks to let the city of Port Richey know what they want from the waterfront overlay district, and whether or not it’s time to revisit existing rules.

Meeting details:
Tonight, 6:30 – 9:00 pm
West Pasco Board of Realtors Office
5409 Sunset Rd, New Port Richey, FL

Oh, and what about the RAIN?
Oh, yeah…Well, here’s the good news:  The Nature Coast, just north of us, is getting the big rain, 8-10 inches in some places…However, the National Weather Service has extended the flood watch til Tuesday EVENING, so it looks like we’re still in for more rain.

My “Go To” for weather links and graphics is Jay’s Hurricane Page o’ Links!  If you open this page in your browser, you will feel like you work at the National Hurricane Center:

Jay Vise, a longtime member of the Fark.com web community, has been managing that page for something over fifteen years!  Thanks, Jay!

That’s all for today…Expect updates regarding the Tuesday hearing in Dade City!
