New Port Richey to Add Kayak Launch at Frances Avenue Park

New Port Richey City Council unanimously approved a bid to construct a kayak launch at Frances Avenue Park along Lousiana Avenue. The total construction cost is $46,828.

Frances Avenue Park offers access to the Pithlachascotee River, with six miles of navigable river area. Kayakers would have the ability to navigate upriver from Frances Avenue to the James E. Grey Preserve and its canoe launch, or head downriver to Sims Park and its future kayak launch.

No date for completion of the project was given. Another kayak launch is also slated to be installed at Sims Park later in 2016.
