Florida Highway Patrol reports that a fatal accident occurred on Grand Boulevard just south of Moog Road at Elkhorn Road in Pasco County Friday morning. One fatality has been reported in a collision involving a tractor-trailer. The accident occurred around 3:40 am and FHP arrived on scene at 4:04 am. All northbound lanes were reported blocked. The accident has since been cleared.

A 23-year-old man died in Holiday early Friday morning when the car he was driving collided with a Freightliner semitrailer truck, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Robert Loya of Holiday was driving a 1996 Honda Accord south on Grand Boulevard near the Elkhorn Boulevard intersection about 3:30 a.m., the FHP said. The man driving the truck was turning left out of a parking lot when Loya hit the back side of the trailer, according to investigators. He reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt.
Loya was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident, according to the FHP. No further information was immediately available.
