According to New Port Richey Mayor Rob Marlowe’s reading of the 2014 budget veto list published by WMNF News, the Hacienda funding has survived Governor Rick Scott’s veto. This means that the historic downtown New Port Richey building will receive funds to restore its structural integrity and open up options for the City in its rehabilitation.
New Port Richey’s City Council has been looking into development and investor options in the last few weeks for the Hacienda as well as an overhaul of Sims Park. The Hacienda was last open in the early 2000s as a sanatorium and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
