Senior Prank Ends with Gulf High School For Sale

Senior Prank Ends with Gulf High School For Sale

In a fairly creative and good natured prank–one would suppose attributable to the school’s 2014 graduating class–Gulf High School, a District School Board of Pasco County facility, ended up on local listings website Craigslist for sale for $500,000. Quite a bargain, considering Pasco’s latest high school’s construction will cost about $63 million.

The ad featured a number of detailed photos about the campus and information such as the length of the school’s track and the cafeteria’s seating capacity.

The ad cited “a lack of funds” as the reason for the sale in New Port Richey, and said that the district will use the money “to better educate the rest of the Pasco schools.” It listed the school’s main contact number for “serious inquiries only.”

The listing has since been removed from Craigslist.

Tanner Abbot, a senior at Gulf High School, took credit for the posting on Facebook today. “Today I posted Gulf High School for sale on Craigslist. After multiple phone calls to the school asking ‘Is the school really for sale,’ ‘What’s going to happen when the school closes,’ ‘Can I buy the school’ and even ‘Where is my kid going to attend school next year.’ I am excited to say my senior prank went over well with everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed the laughter throughout the day, following Facebook and even the news stories!”

Great job, Tanner. A classy, funny and most importantly harmless senior prank!
