New Port Richey,  FL (May 29, 2015) – Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation of Florida has scheduled a battery giveaway for Friday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at its offices in New Port Richey (4443 Rowan Road, 34653). The Foundation will offer free hearing aid batteries in the most common sizes while they last: 10, 13, and 312 and 675.

“The batteries can be picked up at our office during the allotted time while supplies last,” noted Director of Development, Debra Golinski. “We are very pleased to be able to offer free batteries and anyone who needs them are encouraged to come in and pick them up on June 12 ” she added.  She also noted that providing these batteries at no charge to those who need them was made possible by way of a grant from the Pasco Aging Network.

Ms. Golinski also wants to remind hearing aid users that the Foundation heads up the Sertoma Hearing Aid Recycling Program as well. Through this program, Sertoma clubs collect hearing aids in any condition to provide recycled and refurbished hearing aids available to clients who need them. The June battery giveaway is a perfect time to recycle old hearing aids. Hearing aid recycling containers are also located in area Publix grocery stores.

“All hearing aids have value whether broken or worn out so anyone with family members or friends with old hearing aids are asked to help others through this unique collection program,” said Ms. Golinski.

The battery giveaway in June will be held at the Foundation’s office at 4443 Rowan Road in New Port Richey. Call(727) 834-5479 or 1(866) 999-2443 toll free for details. The Foundation’s web site is: www.familyhearinghelp.org<http://www.familyhearinghelp.org>  .

Hearing Loss is the  most common birth defect nationally. Early detection and intervention is vital for an infant to have the opportunity to access speech and other sounds for learning and brain development. Sertoma Speech and Hearing Foundation assists  hard of hearing babies, children, and adults to avoid a life of isolation and hear the world around them so they can succeed personally, academically, and socially.

The mission of the Sertoma Speech &  Hearing Foundation of Florida is to provide quality developmental and rehabilitative services, products and education–primarily to children–throughout Florida, in a caring and compassionate environment, never limited by the ability to pay.
