New Port Richey City Council selected a new City Manager this morning after a long and arduous search. Council members have been busy interviewing candidates in multiple workshops and meeting one on one with the candidates to discuss needs. In the end, they selected Ms. Debbie Manns in a unanimous 5-0 vote.
“I am very pleased about having Ms. Manns as City Manager. It is perfect timing having a new City Manager and a new Mayor who both support businesses which will serve as a driving force for our economic development,” Councilwoman Judy DeBella Thomas said when asked about her “yes” vote for Ms. Manns, “she seems very able to prioritize.”
Manns was most recently employed by the City of Clayton, Ohio as Assistant City Manager. She started that position in 2006. Her LinkedIn profile cites her focuses as “Policy, Emergency Management, and Public Safety.” It also appears, though not noted on her profile, that Ms. Manns worked in Monroe, Ohio as City Manager prior to her work in Clayton.
“Ms. Manns was the most qualified candidate out of the two finalists. She did an excellent job during the interview process and I feel she will be a great fit for our City,” said Councilman Jeff Starkey of the selection.
