Florida House Bill Would Allow Concealed Weapons During Emergencies

A bill, HB209 has passed the Florida House of Representatives with a vote of 80-36. The bill would allow for citizens in “lawful possession of guns” to carry weapons during evacuations prior to and during natural disasters in the State of Florida and does not necessarily require a registered weapon permit or a concealed weapons permit. Recently elected local Representative Amanda Murphy, a Democrat, voted in support of the bill. The Senate’s version of the bill will need to pass the Appropriations Committee before coming to a vote.
